Public service and helping others has always been important to Bob Burns. First as a member of the Affton Board of Education for 12 years, then St. Louis Community College Board of Trustees, and co-chair of Lemay On The Move the citizen’s committee which brought River City Casino to St. Louis and over $500 million in investment. He also served as an Alderman for the City of St. George, and a staff member for both former U.S. Congressman Richard Gephardt , and U.S. Senator Claire McCaskill before being elected to the Missouri General Assembly in 2012. He was subsequently re-elected by the people in 2014, 2016, and 2018. Now Burns is a candidate in the 6th District for St. Louis County Council.

Bob and his wife Dianne have been married for over 50 years and have two sons, David and Michael. The couple are active in raising money and volunteering time to non-profit groups including the Lunch for Kids Program through Operation Food Search, Nurses for Newborns, NCJW Back to School Store, BackStoppers, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, and Children’s Hospital at Christmas. Bob also served six years as a Cub Scout Master for Pack 200 in Affton, President of the Affton School District Fathers Club, and four years as a Baseball Manager for the Affton Athletic Association.Volunteering

Bob is a former Teamster, retiring from Grey Eagle Distributors, Inc. after 33 years. As State Representative, he has been an outspoken advocate for working men and women during his nearly eight years in the Missouri General Assembly. He served as Chairman of the House Democratic Labor Caucus for two years. Burns was honored in 2017 with a Leadership Award for his civic involvement, and charitable efforts by the St. Louis Building and Construction Trade’s Council. He was also been inducted into the Affton High School Hall of Fame in 2011.
